Today I attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Warriors in Transition Complex at Ft. Bragg.  This 25,000 square feet complex will house the WTB Headquarters, Barracks, and a Family Assistance Program, just to name a few.  The goal is to have the new complex completed by December 2011.  Currently, there are nine locations providing services to our Warriors - when the new complex is built that will go down to two locations. 

The US Army Corps of Engineers covering GA & NC, will provide the engineering, design, and construction of this 88 million dollar complex (photo in Image Gallery).

Warrior Transition Battalion History
The Army Medical Action Plan (AMAP) was directed by the Vice Chief of Staff of the Army in April 2007 to resolve difficulties Soldiers were having with outpatient care and the disability evaluation systems.  The AMAP established an integrated and comprehensive continuum of care and services for all Warriors in Transition.  The goal; to develop a sustainable system wherein, injured and ill Soldiers and their families prepare for successful return to duty or transition from the Service as productive veterans.

The Fort Bragg Warrior Transition Battalion was activated on 16 June 2007.  Since that time the Army has continually refined and improved the way it cares for its wounded, ill and injured Soldiers.  Today each Warrior in Transition has an individualized "Comprehensive Transition Plan" supported by more than 250 military and civilian cadre members. 

Since June 2007 the Battalion has helped more than 1,300 Warriors transition back to the Force or to their hometowns as veterans with the sincere appreciation of a grateful Nation.

As LTG Frank G. Helmick said today, "their job is to heal."
